The premiere of the film «Brutus» took place twice

On 27th June at the Center of Documentary Film took place the premiere of the film «Brutus». This film is the second novel of the Almanac «Witnesses», which is dedicated to the memory of victims of the Holocaust.

In the atmosphere of chamber hall of Central Documentary Film the show of the film took place with the full house, the audience had gathered so many that organizers decided to show the film a second time immediately after the first cinema show. First people, who could judge the film, were the producer Katerina von Gechmen-Waldeck, the head of ROSKINO EkaterinaMtsituridze, the chief of the Center of documentary film Sophia Kapkova, Stanislav Voskresensky, Alexander Voloshin, the CEO of TV-channel «THT» Igor Mishin, actresses Svetlana Dryga, Natalia Lesnikovskaya, Marusya Zykova and many others.

The film «Brutus» directed by Konstantin Fam, was created with «Russian Film Group» Corporation, also was included in the competitive programme of 38th Moscow International Film Festival.

«Brutus» continues the conception of the Almanac and tells about the Holocaust through the eyes of German Shepherd named Brutus. The dog lives with Jewish family but according to Nuremberg laws is separated from its owners and in the process of training and manipulations it becomes a beast-killer of the concentration camp. This film is based on the homonymous story by the distinguished Czech writer Ludvik Aškenazy. The leading roles are played by Oksana Fandera, Filipp Yankovsky, Anna Churina, Marta Drozdova and Vladimir Koshevoy.

After the show of the film a press conference was held with the participation of the Director and the actors of the project. Journalists and guests of the premiere were interested in many issues – from the idea of film creating to an unusual financing. According to Konstantin FAM, money for the project was gathered, including through crowdfunding, thus, the project has received the status «national». The Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation also supported the project. It is planned that a serious festival life and theatrical release will wait for the film.

Alexey A. Petrukhin, producer of the film Almanac «Witnesses»: «The film turned out strong in its emotional glow that, the audience on leaving the hall literally has tears in the eyes. For the creators this is very important, so we’ve achieved our goal! Shooting third novel «Violin» will start in the near future, so all the Film viewers will be able to see the whole Almanac in theaters at the beginning of the next year.»

On 29 June, the film will also be shown within the Russian programs of Moscow Film Festival in the House of cinema. Afterwards the film will be presented to the audience of other Russian festivals.

24th of November was issued an Advisory Expert Council for the year 2015 for the award «Golden eagle». In the so-called long-list were included such films as «Warrior», «Edinichka», «Duhless-2″, «Petrushka’s Syndrome», «Norway», and many others. According to the Chairman of the expert Council of the award Kirill Raslogov, this year the nominees were representatives of mainly non-commercial movies, most of the films were participants of various festivals.
